Jobriath A.D.

A celebration and an homage to a charismatic cult figure, the underrated and almost forgotten glam rocker Bruce Campbell, AKA Jobriath.

With a seemingly bright future ahead of him, he was launched as ”America’s Bowie”, but with the additional epithet ”The True Fairy of Rock”, his career was over before it began - despite his formidable talent as a singer/songwriter.
Glam rock was born with Bolan, Ferry and Bowie, but while they played with sexuality, Jobriath was out and proud, and the homophobic music press destroyed him.

The gay community shunned him for being too feminine in an age of macho ideals, and even after a massive launch campaign in 1974, all he was left with was a failed career built only on dreams, illusions and broken promises.
As Marc Almond said:”He was born too early – and lost too soon”.
